Deluge II is a rhythmic, immersive work that invites the viewer into a world of cascading color. Each mark feels like a raindrop, a brief moment in a steady downpour. I worked with short vertical strokes, layering soft neutrals with deep teals, navy, and pale blues to build up texture and movement across the surface. There’s a feeling of rising and falling throughout, almost like a tide, but seen through the lens of memory rather than literal depiction. Painting this was a meditative process—working stroke by stroke, watching the composition shift and take shape without any rigid structure. The repetition gave the piece a quiet pulse, like breath or water, something constant but always changing.
